I recently spent a few days in Dubai and, as premium economy was a really good deal through London, I flew CDG – LHR – DXB and back, which allowed me to try out different British Airways / Oneworld lounges.

While I liked the Cathay Pacific Lounge in Paris Charles de Gaulle and the BA one in London, I have to say I’ve been kind of disappointed with the British Airways Galleries Lounge in Dubai (Concourse D), which I think opened last year (so less excuses for flaws, right ?)

As I put it on my Instagram account – and since i maintain this opinion :

So this is the relatively recent British Airways Galleries Lounge in Dubai (the Concorde Bar being one door away). I was waiting there for my DXB LHR flight (taking off at 1.30… am, as do many flights, so it’s always better to have lounge access in this case=) In my personal opinion, even if the #design is really nice, this business lounge lacks A LOT of « good lounges features », and i’m not talking champagne here : no business corner (computers, etc.), no showers (or where?), and a seats configuration that makes you feel really close to the person facing you. Some areas are nice to seat in (close to the « window ») but super really busy and I could not find a spot there. So keep this option for an OK drink and light meal before flying, not to get some proper work done or to have a quick shower to fly fresh (and Dubai is hot as f*** these days, even if you take a cab, you’ll sweat at some point) as an OW Sapphire, i may consider other #oneworld airlines lounges next time, just to compare. #dubai #airport #businesslounge #airportlounge #britishairways #frequentflyer #executivelounge #businessclass #travelawesome #travel #ladiesgoneglobal #dxb #luxurytravel #travellife #myunicornlife #wanderlust #tripstagram #passionpasseport #instago #photosinbetween #travelling #frequenttravel #dametraveler #thehappynow #mytinyatlas #lifewelltravelled #gltlove #airtravel

What I liked :

  • The friendly welcome
  • A cool design
  • A lot of plugging options close to the seats and tables

What I thought was missing :

  • Showers
  • Computers
  • More « quiet seats » options (very limited)
  • Better wines, I found them kind of cheap (i’m comparing to other lounges, that’s all);

Food was ok for a pre-flight meal (without dinner at 1.30am), with a selection of hot meals and some cold cuts and snacks (but no, it’s not as cool as Cathay Pacific cooking you noodles on demand:) :

What do you think ? Are business lounges « ok enough » to have a drink and light meal before a flight, or should they always display some kind of cleaning and working facilities ? Is that important to you ?

PS : Remember that if you are a OneWorld Sapphire member, you have access to this lounge under the habitual conditions (flying BA or partner, etc.).
